Stopped Down Studio (“I,” “me,” or “my”) is a photography studio operated by Adam Rubinstein in Oakland, California. This policy explains how I collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use my website, book a session, or interact with my services.

Information I Collect

I collect the following types of information:

  • Contact information: name, email address, phone number, and mailing address
  • Booking details: session type, dates, times, locations, and session notes
  • Payment information: processed securely through Stripe; I do not store your full card number
  • Photographs: images captured during your session, proofs, and final retouched images
  • Communications: emails, survey responses, and other messages you send me
  • Device and usage data: browser type, IP address, pages visited, and interaction data collected through analytics tools

How I Use Your Information

  • Schedule and manage your photography sessions
  • Process payments and send invoices
  • Deliver your photographs through your client dashboard and galleries
  • Send booking confirmations, session reminders, and other service-related emails
  • Send marketing emails and newsletters (with your consent; you can unsubscribe anytime)
  • Improve my website and services through analytics
  • Respond to your questions and support requests

Email Communications

I send two types of emails:

  • Transactional emails: booking confirmations, session reminders, invoices, contract notifications, and delivery links. These are essential to your service and cannot be opted out of.
  • Marketing emails: newsletters, promotions, and studio updates. You can unsubscribe at any time through the link in any marketing email or from your client dashboard.

I may use tracking technologies (such as read receipts) to understand how my emails are received. This helps me improve my communications and ensure important messages reach you.

Cookies

I use the following cookies:

  • Authentication cookies: to keep you logged into your client dashboard
  • Voting cookies: to identify you when voting on a friend’s image gallery (first name only; no email required)
  • Google Analytics: to understand how visitors use my website
  • Microsoft Clarity: to analyze user behavior and improve the experience

Third-Party Services

I use trusted third-party services to operate my business. Each handles your data according to their own privacy policies:

  • Stripe: payment processing
  • Google: analytics, calendar scheduling, and address lookup
  • Microsoft Clarity: website analytics
  • Resend: email delivery
  • Vercel: website hosting
  • Supabase: secure data storage
  • Aikido: security monitoring and vulnerability scanning

I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. None of your data is used for anything other than booking, delivering, and storing your photos.

Data Retention

I retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide my services and fulfill my business obligations. Client records, including photographs, are kept for the duration of my business relationship and for a reasonable period afterward to accommodate re-orders and follow-up services.

You may request deletion of your data at any time (see Your Rights below).

Data Security

I take reasonable measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication, and access controls. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and I cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal information I have on file
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Delete your personal information, subject to legal and business requirements
  • Opt out of marketing emails at any time

Existing clients can access, correct, and download their data from their client dashboard. To request data deletion or for any other privacy concern, reach out here.

California Residents

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information I collect, request its deletion, and opt out of its sale. I do not sell personal information. To make a CCPA request, submit it here.

Children's Privacy

My services are not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe I have collected such information, please let me know and I will promptly delete it.

Changes to This Policy

I may update this privacy policy from time to time. If I make material changes, I will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of my services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
